Hi again friends…if you are new, welcome, and please feel free to read my earlier Home & Lifestyle posts that you can find on the main menu page of my blog. If you have been with me for a while, then you’ll know that I have been in the midst of a big spring clean, declutter and home reorganisation.
If you’re anything like me, and love your aesthetics, and the ways in which colour, tone and texture can really affect the mood of a room, then you may also be like me in that you have changing colour cravings!
I like beautiful, complementary and sometimes bright colours, both to wear and to have around me. Last year, I fell in love with teal and shades of blue for my home, and over Christmas, I incorporated white furnishings such as white throws to brighten and freshen up my flat, and added some accents of red. Now that spring has officially ‘sprung’ (although this is not always reflected in the weather where I am!), I have folded away the red rug / throw and put away other more autumnal shades, and have been using my teal and blue / green colours again with the whites.
However, quite recently, and a bit out of character for me, I have had colour cravings for more muted tones such as browns and greys. And yet, I don’t want things to be lacklustre. I particularly had the desire to have browns and pinks in my room, with a desire for a more homely country and rustic feel, yet perhaps like you, felt a bit non-committal and did not want to risk painting my light coloured walls with more muted shades.
So I once again turned to the wonderful world of soft furnishings ~ pillows, cushion covers, throws, etc, that can beautifully change the tone and mood of a room to reflect your own mood or purpose for that time, without either breaking the bank, constraining you to live with a colour that you might not want to be a permanent feature in your home, and can bring out a little bit more of your creative inner interior-designer flair!
So to showcase this, here are a few pictures of my room with a zesty spring mood, a spring country vibe, and something somewhere in between (unfortunately I have been unable to upload the third picture which shows a beautiful incorporation of both of the looks with a few extra touches, you’ll just have to imagine it for the time being!). Enjoy! And colour the world beautiful with those unique colours within your own heart! xxx
